behind the scenes: meet your blog writer

The recurrent blog is a place where you can find answers to all your hygiene-related questions. And I’m here to help! My name is Farah Sayed, and I’m the journalism and education intern at recurrent.
As of fall 2020, I’m a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying psychology and creative writing on the pre-med track. I joined recurrent this past summer, and since then, I’ve written articles, designed quizzes, and planned other exciting features for the blog. Stay tuned, because there’s a lot of fun content to come.
I chose recurrent because I wanted help educate young adults (you!) about wellness and hygiene. There’s a lot of confusing information on the internet, but hopefully you can find simple, easy to understand answers here on the blog. During my research process, I interview leading healthcare professionals and compile information from published research in the field. My goal is to make sure you have the knowledge to make the right decisions when it comes to hygiene.
I, myself, have learned so much while writing articles. When I approach a topic, I always want to get to the “why” behind it. What’s truly the reason you should avoid certain chemicals? What’s the deal with wearing sunscreen when it’s cloudy? Understanding the science behind all of this helps so much when it comes to deciding what’s right for your body. I’m interested in finding out what’s really happening on the level we can’t see.
Aside from my interests in health and writing, I enjoy baking and making artwork. Now that it’s ~spooky season~ you can probably find me whipping up some pumpkin cookies or an apple pie. I hope you enjoy the blog (and fall treats) as much as I do!
